The Intelligence Bureau (IB) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has officially released the notification for the recruitment of Junior Intelligence Officer Grade-II/Technical (JIO-II/Tech) for the year 2025.   • Name of Post: Junior Intelligence Officer Grade-II/Technical
  • Classification: General Central Service, Group ‘C’ (Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial)
  • Pay Scale: Level 4 (₹25,500 – ₹81,100) plus allowances
    • Special Security Allowance: 20% of basic pay in addition to other allowances
    • Cash Compensation: For duties on holidays, subject to a ceiling of 30 days
  • Total Vacancies: 394

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications

Candidates must have any one of the following:

  1. Diploma in Engineering in:
    • Electronics / Electronics & Telecommunication / Electronics & Communication
    • Electrical & Electronics / Information Technology
    • Computer Science / Computer Engineering / Computer Applications
    OR
  2. Bachelor’s Degree in Science with Electronics / Computer Science / Physics / Mathematics OR
  3. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Applications (BCA)

All qualifications must be from a Government recognized University/Institute.

Age Limit

  • General: 18–27 years
  • Relaxations:
    • SC/ST: +5 years
    • OBC: +3 years
    • Departmental candidates with 3+ years of service: up to 40 years
    • Widows/divorced women: up to 35 years (UR), 38 years (OBC), 40 years (SC/ST)
    • Ex-Servicemen and Meritorious Sportspersons: as per Government rules

Service Liability

  • Candidates must be ready for All India Transfer Liability.
  • Only those willing to serve anywhere in India should apply.

Selection Process & Exam Pattern

The recruitment involves three stages:

Tier-I: Online Objective Test

  • Subjects:
    • General Mental Ability – 25%
    • Technical Subjects (as per qualifications) – 75%
  • Marks: 100
  • Duration: 2 Hours
  • Negative Marking: ¼ mark for each wrong answer
  • Cut-off Marks:
    • UR/EWS: 35
    • OBC: 34
    • SC/ST: 33

Tier-II: Skill Test

  • Practical/technical test related to the job profile
  • Marks: 30

Tier-III: Interview/Personality Test

  • Marks: 20

👉 Final merit list will be prepared based on combined performance in Tier-I, Tier-II, and Tier-III.


Important Dates

  • Online Application Start Date: 23 August 2025
  • Closing Date for Application: 14 September 2025 (11:59 PM)
  • Last Date for SBI Challan Fee Submission (Offline): 16 September 2025

Application Fee

The application fee has two parts:

  1. Examination Fee: ₹100 (only for Male candidates of UR, OBC, and EWS)
  2. Recruitment Processing Charges: ₹550 (for all candidates)

Total Fee:

  • UR/OBC/EWS Male Candidates: ₹650
  • SC/ST, Female Candidates, Ex-Servicemen: ₹550

Mode of Payment:

  • Online: Debit/Credit Card, Net Banking, UPI, SBI e-challan
  • Offline: SBI challan (till 16.09.2025)

Step-by-Step Process

  1. Register with valid email ID and mobile number.
  2. Fill in personal and educational details.
  3. Upload photo (100–200 KB, recent color) and signature (80–150 KB, black ink on white paper).
  4. Pay the required application fee online or via challan.
  5. Submit the form and take a printout of the application for reference.

  • Valid Photo ID (Aadhar, Voter ID, PAN, DL, etc.)

  • Recent passport-size photos

Exam Centres

Applicants must select five preferred exam cities while applying. IB reserves the right to allot any of these choices. Major cities across all states and UTs are available as exam centres.


Final Selection

  • Candidates must clear document verification, character & antecedent verification, and medical examination.
  • Appointment will initially be temporary, subject to confirmation later.
